Did you know that high definition iZon(TM) eyeglass lenses are now available? Carmel Mountain Vision Care is one of the first in the nation offering these novel spectacle lenses, recently featured in the San Diego Union Tribune and on Channel 8 news. The iZon lens uses a new measuring device in our office called the Z-View aberrometer (shown above) to measure the optical fingerprint of the eye which is unique to each person, before the information is transferred onto a spectacle lens. Unlike conventional spectacles in which lenses are molded or ground, the iZon lens prescription is "written" onto a lens, analogous to how information is programmed onto a compact disc. These premium lenses are made thin and light (1.6 high index) and include an antireflective treatment. They retail for $353.
